ΔG/G|Photo<xG>= 0.15 = 0.10 ± 0.04(stat.) ± 0.01(exp. syst.)+0.07-0.14(model syst.),
und die von semi-inklusiven Daten mit pT ≥ > 1 GeV istΔG/G|semi<xG>=0.16=-0.09±0.10(stat.)±0.01(exp. syst.)+0.02-0.16(model syst.).
Data on double spin asymmetries of single high transverse momentum (pT) hadrons taken with the HERMES experiment at DESY were analyzed to extract the polarized gluon density in the nucleon using additional information from a Monte Carlo model. The main focus of this work was to adapt this Monte Carlo model, PYTHIA 6, to the HERMES energy range. The gluon polarization was extracted from quasireal photoproduction data with pT≥1.35 GeV to be
ΔG/G|Photo<xG>= 0.15 = 0.10 ± 0.04(stat.) ± 0.01(exp. syst.)+0.07-0.14(model syst.).
and from semi-inclusive data with pT ≥ 1 GeV to beΔG/G|semi<xG>=0.16=-0.09±0.10(stat.)±0.01(exp. syst.)+0.02-0.16(model syst.).
The large statistics of the quasireal photoproduction data facilitated the study of the pT dependence of the gluon polarization. Inconsistencies in the results obtained from independent data samples on positive and negative hadrons and on negative hadrons from proton and deuteron targets were observed. The possible reasons, most likely lying in an incomplete description of the data by the Monte Carlo were discussed.
